Rejuvenating Asphalt Shingle Roofs with Peak 301: A Sustainable Solution

Repair or replace. These were once the only options available when one’s roof began to show signs of wear. We at G. Fedale Roofing and Siding are excited to introduce Peak 301, a product intent on rejuvenating asphalt shingle roofs.

Peak 301: Sustainable Roofing Solution

More than a band-aid fix, Peak 301 is an organic application that can add years to a roof that’s still in good repair. A USDA-certified biobased product, Peak 301 is made from soybeans. Its 96-percent biobased composition is greater than other similar products on the market, says G. Fedale Sales Manager Jake Domanski. As such, product runoff will not harm the foliage below or family pets.

“Peak 301 soaks through the mat of the asphalt shingles, giving the roof its flexibility back,” Jake says. Even newly installed shingles will lose granulation over time, beginning at six months after the installation. Deteriorating shingles caused by sun exposure and adverse weather weaken the integrity of the roof, making it vulnerable to leaks and other damage. Peak 301 can save over 50 percent of granulation in a newer roof, and at just 15-to-20 percent of the cost of a full roof replacement.

Benefits of Peak301 Roof Rejuvenation

While not a go-to fix for a roof that’s truly in need of repair or replacement, the product is considered preventative maintenance. Jake points to a couple of scenarios where Peak 301 provides the perfect antidote. For roofs installed within the past 10-15 years, Peak 301 refreshes and protects the investment. The product is especially beneficial to the slightly older roof that utilized three-tab shingle construction, a less durable offering than today’s more popular architectural style shingle.

Application is not a DIY job but rather, should be done by a professional. We partner with a Delaware-based company to do this work. The application can be done in tandem with a professional roof cleaning – another task that should be done professionally, as high-pressure power washers can damage the integrity of the roof shingles.

Peak 301 is warrantied for six years, and applications can be repeated down the road for further longevity. The product is also compatible with the warranty from our roofing materials manufacturer, GAF.
