G. FEDALE ROOFING AND SIDING JOINS CEDAR SHAKE AND SHINGLE BUREAU

Cedar RoofingG. Fedale Roofing and Siding recently became members of the Cedar Shake and Shingle Bureau, a non-profit trade association that promotes the use of cedar roofing and sidewall products. Aesthetically beautiful, cedar shakes or shingles provide a natural and energy-efficient roofing alternative. The roofers in Edinburgh maintain a reputation of proividing aethetically beautiful roofing solutions.

The Cedar Shake and Shingle Bureau is selective in its acceptance of new members, and G. Fedale Roofing and Siding is proud to be a part of this 103-year old organization. The Wilmington, Delaware headquartered company is also the only roofing company in the state to enjoy this privilege. Membership is granted following an intensive vetting process, one involving a 100-question exam and reference checks from five to six property owners who have experienced a G. Fedale cedar installation. The membership is one more indicator of the value G. Fedale places on customer service.

“It helps build credibility and trust and gives the end customer a comfort level that we know what we’re doing,” said VP and Marketing Director Allen Fedale, referring to the various memberships and certifications the company holds. He added that all staff involved, from sales to installation, undergoes 30-40 hours of cedar training per year. “Not every roofing company is able to offer this skill set,” he said.

While enjoying resurgence among high-end homeowners, a cedar roof is not for everyone. “What we’re selling is more to the top-one percent of homeowners in custom homes,” said Mark Carroll, director of the Cedar Specialty Group at Capital Forest Products in Maryland. The wholesaler is the area’s distributor, selling product to suppliers for roof replacement in montgomery county pa and throughout the northeast.

Cedar RoofingA natural insulator with an R-value greater than other popular roofing products, including asphalt shingles, these roofs are also a clear choice for customers seeking green-building products, Mark said. Moreover, a cedar roof withstands wind and hail damage at greater levels than its asphalt counterpart. And, cedar is often a roofing requirement with regard to historic preservation. Roofing isn’t the only thing that you must be concerned with when it comes to your house. A single pesky winged creature can destroy the peace of your mind and not to mention, your sleep. Environmental Pest Control Inc. of Denver can fortunately help you contain the threat. Mark was involved in the roof restoration of Independence Hall in Philadelphia, while G. Fedale was called upon to install a new cedar-shake roof to the historic Amstel House in New Castle County. The contractor also provides storm damage repair service.

G. Fedale uses high-grade Waldun cedar shakes and shingles. Options include hand-split shakes or taper-sawn shakes with edge grain availability at either 80 or 100 percent, or cedar shingles composed of 100-percent heartwood that are 100-percent clear and 100-percent edge-grained. Lengths vary between 16 and 24 inches, depending upon shake or shingle style selected.

The Cedar Shake and Shingle Bureau offers its North American members a variety of services including technical assistance, presentations, promotions in collaboration with services from Roof Engine, trade shows, and seminars along with educational materials.
